I bought this as a life long fan of toasted sandwiches and I haven't been disappointed.
Even toasting across the sandwich, along with the ability to make 4 sandwiches at a time (8 pieces of bread).
Only downside would be the lack of an auto cut off timer once the sandwich is ready.

I'd like to say this was a nice little toastie machine but that wouldn't be accurate. This thing is huge. I made the mistake of reading four slice as four in total and not four sandwiches, so this was quite a surprise when it arrived. Not to worry though, it just means more toastie for me. The machine heats up quickly and toasts evenly. It generally seals the bread well and always creates an easily cuttable divisional line down the centre of the bread.
The downside being that if you get a little over enthusiastic with the fillings you could end up, like I recently experienced, with molten cheese and beans pouring out of every orifice of the machine. This probably says more about my skills as a toastie maker than the machines ability to make toasties though. So the actual downside of this was the cleaning. There are some grooves and screw positions around the edges of the plate that seem to gather up the gunge. A knife or other sharp implement is required to remove this.
Another slight annoyance is the fact that they dual use the instructions with an earlier (smaller ?) model that actually comes with removable plates for easy cleaning. You can spend a good thirty minutes trying to find the catches on this thing only to realise they don't actually exist. This may have saved Breville a few pennies but it tested my sanity.

I bought this sandwich maker expecting it to be like ones i'd had previous,you know!!! hard to clean,never quite seals the sandwich like it shows on the box,but to my suprise it was the complete opposite and you dont have to cut the crust off, (sliced bread). As toasted sandwich maker's go you wont find better!!

Still going strong!
I've had this sandwich maker for nearly three years now and am happy to say that it stll works well. I'm now buying one for my daughter and would recommend this to others too.

Not good quality
Toastie maker works well, but the catch on the front holding it together has broken already after just 3 mornings of use. Very dissappointed with the quality.
