The Breville VKJ458 polished stainless steel traditional kettle combines classic design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. This makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. It has a capacity of 1.8 litres (l) and so can accommodate about six to eight cups--ideal for families. The VKJ458 is designed with a rear water gauge indicating water level to help you fill the kettle to the desired amount. The traditional shape gives your kettle a sophisticated style, while the switch illuminates blue on boiling adding to the smart effect. The kettle is fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.

We wanted a traditional type of kettle to replace our last one and this looked just right. If it was only looks then I would be quite happy, but the noise. The reviewer who says all kettles are noisy, yes, but this? Our last old kettle was much quieter and just to make sure, we have asked all visiting friends what they reckon and all of them have commented on the noise. I am in total agreement with the reviewer who says they have to close the door to hear the TV. We have to turn the radio up or shout above the kettle. The noise level is interfering and not just background. Like that reviewer, we are seriously considering buying another kettle to replace this one which is less than two weeks old. It seems extravagant, but we don't think that we can put up with this for the next few years. I would definitely not recommend that you buy this kettle. It may look good, pour well, fill easily, be nice to handle, but the level of noise is really too much and quite frankly outweighs all the other benefits which is why I am only giving it one star. Very disappointing.

My new Breville kettle is really good, you can see how much water is in it without taking off the lid and it has a large water capacity. Didn't give it five stars as it is quite noisy and I find it tough to remove the lid but I would recommend it.

the kettle does the job, but oh my isn't it noisy. I know most electric kettles make some noise but this one takes the biscuit

Really hard to use
The handle cannot move! Always block to refill! Very hot for the outside, danger to use!!!!!The only reason I donot return it is I don't have time to repost it!!!!

We replaced a John Lewis kettle with this product because it was so much cheaper. It doesn't feel as sturdy as the JL product but looks good and performs well.
