The Puratea includes an integrated tea infuser which raises and lowers into the heated water for optimal brewing strength. Choose from four temperatures to suit the type of tea you use, allowing the flavours to be released to their full potential. This versatile appliance can also be used as a normal kettle so there's no need to cram your kitchen worktop with two appliances.

As many teas are grown and processed in different environments it is essential that they are brewed at the appropriate temperatures in order to produce the optimum taste and aroma. For example, with white, green or jasmine teas the leaves may become scalded and bitter if the brewing temperature is too high. Alternatively higher temperatures tend to be more suited to types like Earl Grey and English Breakfast.
The Puratea caters for each of these different types of tea. It heats water to either a low, medium, high or boiling temperature so the most favourable brewing temperature can be achieved.
If you're not sure of which setting to choose, it's accompanied by a guide that outlines which settings suit a number of popular teas, or for true tea aficionados it offers the opportunity to experiment with brewing times and temperatures. This versatility applies to the tea used in the tea maker as well. If you don't have loose leaf tea there's no need to worry as it also works with all varieties of bagged tea.
A key feature of the Puratea is the Keep Warm function which can be activated after the tea has been brewed. The Keep Warm maintains the temperature of the tea at 75 degrees Celsius for 60 minutes after brewing, allowing for those all important refills and top-ups. It also includes an additional lid, so you can remove the tea infuser and use the Puratea as a regular kettle making it a two-in- one.

The Puratea makes a smart addition to your kitchen. It's made from specially hardened glass able to withstand high temperatures which allows you to observe the tea infusing so it's brewed to your preferred requirements. This crystal clear transparency also makes it easy to help you fill the kettle with the desired amount of water. The digital controls illuminate when activated making it easy to use and giving it a sophisticated style emphasised by the sleek stainless steel accents.
The VKJ436 is 2.2 kilowatts (kW) and has a concealed element which makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. And it's fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.
Remove the tea infuser from the steel and glass kettle and add the desired amount of fresh, cold water. The maximum capacity is 1 litre (l), the equivalent of approximately four cups so there's plenty to go around. Add your tea of choice to the tea carriage, then insert this into the infuser and place it back in the kettle in the raised position.
Choose from the four temperature settings--low, medium, high or boil--depending on your requirements and press the Start/ Stop button to begin the heating process. The tea infuser can then be raised and lowered at will, in order to achieve your preferred strength.
