I settled on this kettle because we wanted a polished design and the Which? recommended Philips HD4656 had a number of problem reports about leakage and other failures in the Amazon reviews while this one had no highly negative reviews on Amazon.
Basically, the kettle is adequate but the more negative reviews are accurate: the level indicator in the handle makes it unreadable, you need to look inside to see how much water is in it. The scale filter pops out a bit too easily for my liking, but it is OK. The kettle has a flat bottom inside so the heating element does not come in contact with the water. I think this reduces scale build up because the entire inside of the kettle is made up of flat surfaces, but as others note the kettle is noisy when boiling (because of flat bottom?).
It was the least expensive of the lot and the noise doesn't bother me that much. I can judge how much water is in it as it usually only needs to boil one or two cups at a time. If you are a serious kettle user you may want something more user friendly, but I'm satisfied.
