The Breville VKJ348 polished stainless steel jug kettle combines modern design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. This makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. It has a capacity of 1.7 litres (l) and so can accommodate about six to eight cups--ideal for families. The VKJ348 is designed with large water windows indicating water level to help you fill the kettle to the desired amount. And this window illuminates blue when boiling, making it easier to judge the correct amount and giving your kettle a sophisticated style. The kettle is fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.

Having bought it and now used it several times I must say I am very happy with this kettle.
First of all the kettle itself is very light (If anything appears a little thin) The grip is great and far enough from the kettle to avoid and burning of knuckles. The blue light which illuminates when the water is boiling is a nice little touch and I have found that this does boil very very quick. Its no problem getting your morning cuppa for work.
One or two things I must say regarding a few other reviews here (Because these were some of the things that gave me concern) 1. Steam, yes its a kettle, boiling water produces steam therefore the glass panel will get steamed up (You would have thought that was blindingly obvious. 2. The noise factor. Well I dont live near heathrow airport and I must say if the maximum noise is that of a kettle boiling then cant see what everyone is complaining about! No in fact this kettle is pretty quiet so unless you are ultra sensitive to sound then I dont think you really have anything to worry about.

This is a lovely looking kettle that will fit in well with any modern looking kitchen due to the chrome and black colour scheme. The illuminated blue panel adds a touch of funkiness and also lets you see the water bubbling away inside which is awesome!
The water boils very quickly which is great for those of us who sometimes need a cup of tea in a hurry.
It's not the lightest kettle to pick up and sometimes condensation can occur on the inside but these are minor niggles. Really, this is a kettle which looks great, performs well and is not expensive compared to some of it's brothers and sisters (though, to be fair, this is not a water filtering kettle so obviously it will be a bit cheaper!)

What a good purchase. Not at all expensive. A good feature is being able to wind the cable into the base leaving just the length required. The kettle boils ultra fast and looks good in the kitchen too. The large water view window is excellent for regulating the level of water to be boiled so conserving energy. Most importantly our grandchildren ask if they can have tea made with the 'Blue' water. Another excellent feature to tell from afar when the water has boiled. Highly recommended.

Shame that the lid is not very strong and may break off if you are not careful with it because otherwise this is a good kettle for the price.

Excellent purchase
Excellent all round. Fast boiler and not too noiseyJust hope that it stays like this for a long time. As I have found in the past these type of kettles get noisier as time goes by.

Smart kettle
Quite loud when boiling, looks great, good capacity, easy to open lid for easy filling. The blue LED lights when it's in use do look quite cool.
