Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Breville VKJ176 brushed stainless steel jug kettle combines modern design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. This makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. It has a capacity of 1.7 litres (l) and so can accommodate about six to eight cups--ideal for families. The VKJ176 is designed with a rear water gauge indicating water level to help you fill the kettle to the desired amount. And the switch illuminates blue on boiling giving your kettle a sophisticated style. The kettle is fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.

So, Kitchens are full of products which essentially heat, mix and wash. Should be the end. However, we spend many of our most important moments around a single, humble appliance: the kettle. This is my Kettle, and I'm always pleased to see it. It does what it's meant to very quickly. It's loud, but I like that--it makes if feel earnest somehow. The handle is great, since it's comfortable to fill and pour and doesn't get hot; and the finish is brilliant. It's high quality and very well priced. It comes highly recommended from me, at any rate.

    Very disappointed 9 July 2009
The first electric kettle I bought was 40 years ago and lasted about 18 years (it was made in the U.K). Since then, subsequent kettles have lasted shorter and shorter times to the point where the last few have lasted about a year. This one has beaten all records by going rusty in a few months (that's red rust, not limescale) around the stainless steel rim. What kind of stainless steel goes rusty? Yes, you have guessed! I have now located a kettle made in Europe and hope to fare better.

O.K. but not outstanding. Heats quickly and not too noisy. Lid a bit difficult for rheumatic hands.
