The Breville VKJ137 polished stainless steel jug kettle combines modern design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. This makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. It has a capacity of 1.5 litres (l) and so can accommodate about five to seven cups--ideal for families. The VKJ137 is designed with large dual water windows indicating water level to help you fill the kettle to the desired amount. And these windows illuminate blue when boiling, making it easier to judge the correct amount and giving your kettle a sophisticated style. The kettle is fitted with a non-slip, 360° rotational base for left and right-handed usage and cord storage to keep your kitchen worktop fuss-free.

This kettle solves the problem of many electric kettles,where the water depth guage becomes blocked with a build up of limescale that is impossible to clear out.The depth guages are in the side of the kettle and can be cleaned easily,without the constant use of chemicals.Otherwise this is a good quality kettle that boils very fast and is easy to fill and maintain.

Bought this kettle some time ago now. Absolutely loved it, I love the blue glow and the ability to see the water level. The noise and time taken to boil seemed about average, and was pretty much what I'd expected.
But a week after the warranty ran out the kettle stopped working, we replaced the plug and it started working again. 2 weeks later the kettle broke again (possibly the element?) - it still glows blue but is not heating up. For the price I would have expected it to last a bit longer.
Also, I do think the picture is misleading - looks like there is a vertical black line down the edge which is not the case.

hang your head in shame Breville. had a stainless, fast boil kettle (which was expensive)for 18 mths. in that time after boiling water with the red internal light glowing, it switches to blue which immediately starts flashing on and off like a squad car, then spout filter fell to bits. It also suffers from bad cracking of the view windows (crappy plastic which has started leaking) which seems to affect the current models. they need to get their act together. won't buy another Breville till they do. very poor quality, are you listening Breville???

3 years old and just like new!
Mine is coming up for 3 years old, used at least 6 times a day every day. Boils very rapidly, no noisier than other kettles and polishes up like new. Read more
