A very attractive product and certainly, with its Brita filter, provides nice clean boiling water without the floating residues so common in hard-water areas.
The downside is the kettle's water capacity (and this doesn't just apply to the Breville, other manufacturers have opted for 1 litre capacity kettles). It holds no more than a litre at a time so don't be fooled by its appearance. It looks big (and is quite heavy) but the filter compartment descends into the boiling compartment so reducing the capacity to 1 litre.
If you have friends (and some of us do) make sure they don't want to pop round for a cuppa in groups of more than one. Or if you live in a household larger than two people, expect to fight over the kettle first thing in the morning. And if you like a pot of tea, you'll be pushed to heat the pot first 'cos there won't be enough water to make the brew!
I suppose this built-in frugality does reduce the wasteful boiling of water and will raise a cheer with those amongst us who warn of climate change if we continually waste electricity, but two cups from a kettle is pushing it for those other than the Billy No-Mates out there or those that live alone.
On a footnote. We had the non-Brita version at our office (3 times the water capacity) and it burnt out after 4 months having to deal with that extra water. Ah, now that's a thought!
