I bought this hand blender in anticipation of having to cook for myself at university, and it arrived very swiftly from Amazon, even to a BFPO address. It was brilliant at first, and I used it for blending loads of soups and sauces, whisking cake batter etc without encountering any problems. Unfortunately, after I washed the blender attachment up after making a soup I discovered that I chunk of the white plastic bit had cracked and fallen off... I'd only been using it for about 2 months or so, and had been careful with it (as a student I can't really afford to buy replacements all the time, after all). There was certainly no indication before I used it that day that it would suddenly start disintegrating. Also, and I might just be being pedantic, the padlock symbols etc on the platic bits of the blender started to fade away after a couple of uses. Because I bought it over 2 months ago, I can't just get a refund via Amazon - I've had to contact Breville for a replacement. Will let you know how that goes.
