The fact that this sandwich toaster has removable plates is what makes it usable to me. I can't understand how anyone can eat from all the others when you can't give them a good wash! The plates on this toaster come out neatly, and wash nicely. Then you click them back in for the next use. As for making the toasted sandwich, it does it as well as you'd expect it to.

This sandwich maker with its removable plates is a good idea but i am not sure how long these plates will last, they are very thin and flimsy and the catches where they insert into are also very thin, they will not last long...I have owned mine for only a month and i can see that they probably wont last the year, so I would suggest if you bought this sandwich maker to store your receipt in a safe place whilst its still under warranty as you will probably be needing it.
The other problem i have with this is that i find it very difficult to close, i only use cheese as my fillings and i have to turn the machine upside down trying to get the handle clasp to lock.
I also find that my sandwiches come out soggy and not brown and crispy even when i leave them in for a good 10 minutes.
I am comparing this sandwich maker to my previous maker which cost me a lot less then this but was ten times better.

Started off well with handy removeable plates. However, after 4 months of use, the plates are no longer non-stick. Pretty useless in fact. Sandwiches come out now like omelettes once they have been carefully chiselled out! Found the older model much more durable.
