Its early days, my kettle is less than a week old. It looks lovely but I'm wondering whether the stand by mode is pretty enough to be worth a possible increase in electricity bill. The colours are certainly mesmerising. My main concern is that the water tastes absolutely horrible when its boiled more than once. This has never happened when I've had a new kettle before, and I've had many, this being a very hard water area.

UPDATE - SIX MONTHS ON, NO REGRETS! THE KETTLE IS WORKING PERFECTLY AND IS MUCH ADMIRED. BILLS ARE THE SAME AND THE WATER TASTE HAS SETTLED DOWN.

FURTHER UPDATE 18 MONTHS ON: DITTO, STILL IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER AND MUCH ADMIRED

TWO YEARS ON: I'd actually like to update this to 5 stars but the system won't let me. All I can do is quote "only have things about you which you believe are beautiful and/or know are useful" and this kettle fulfils both criteria.

UPDATE FOUR YEARS ON: STILL AS NEW

Disappointing 6 Nov 2008
I've had this kettle for just over a year...the usual...no longer under warranty...and so the colours have decided to flicker erratically causing the calm glow emanating from the kitchen to turn into a migraine invoking experience. A real disappointment but then again, a kettle should just be a kettle...not an ambient provoking experience. Yet again, I should learn these lessons in life...oh dear!

Ok I suppose 28 Jan 2006
The only reason I bought this kettle was because I loved the groovy colours! It certainly boils quickly enough, but I have come to find the constant blue glow in my kitchen quite annoying, so have resided to keep this appliance switched off at the plug!
Nice ‘keep hot’ feature though, which keeps the water simmering just below boiling point so if you get called away to the phone, or hubby rings to say he’s stuck in traffic, you don’t have to re-boil the kettle. I’m sure this feature gobbles up energy though.
