Tap water in the UK is perfectly safe. However, it doesn't always taste, look or smell as pleasant as we'd like, and the effect can be noticeable not only in drinking water but in hot drinks and food cooked in water.

The Breville Aluminium Brita Spectra Filter Kettle uses the BRITA Maxtra cartridges for 20% better limescale reduction. With a 1.25 litres capacity and 360 degree non-slip base, Breville Brita Filter Kettles also feature 'Memo': the electronic cartridge exchange indicator to remind users when to change the cartridge.
This kettle features a red illumination when boiling, and Breville's unique changing Spectra illumination when on standby, as well as the unique keep-warm feature keeping water hot and ready for you.

This kettle would look good in any kitchen. I like the way the internal lighting changes colour too! The kettle boils in no time at all leaving no scum or film! Although expensive, it is well worth the extra in every way. A wonderful item indeed

Had it now for 3 days. It looks good and does everything it's supposed to, except......
The first time it was used, it didn't switch off when the water boiled, this has happened several times now, and with different people. Will give it a week or two to see if the fault (stiffness/newness?) wears off and then will contact Breville, although I'm sure I've read a review somewhere on Amazon that wasn't full of their praises.
3 weeks on the kettle is working perfectly (although looking at other models some reviewers have had the same fault permanently).
Would definitely buy another, especially when I've seen it on here several times for £35 inclusive. Must be a bargain.

Everyone comments on this kettle when they come round. It looks great and does what it's supposed to. I'm not sure how environmentally friendly it is with its lights (but I switch it off at the plug when not in use) and it's difficult to tell exactly how many "cups" you are putting in as the water has to go through the filter area before you get to see it in the kettle - but you soon learn! Water is filtered perfect and living in London it clears the scum off your tea nicely. It is quite heavy based on other kettles we've had.

Common fault?

Does not help with limescale
Quite disappointed to see scaling build up at the bottom of the kettle. Went to Breville website to see if this was normal and this is what it said in the FAQ

Save your money for a better kettle!
Bought this kettle new in John Lewis in December 2009 and was dead by December 2010. Initially looks pretty but soon becomes tiresome, with its slow filling filter system. Read more
