This is such a lovely record! I heard Athena sing many of these songs in concert a year ago and have been looking forward to getting them on CD ever since, but the quality and production is even better than I dreamed and some of the newer songs like To Be With You, Inside Out and Wooden Horse are her best yet. Give this record some space and Athena's songs get deep into your soul, as if they are being sung directly for you. Her voice is amazing, so intimate and soulful. The accompaniments and arrangements are just beautifully subtle, they perfectly enhance everything, keeping the songs and THAT voice at centre stage as it should be - the most gorgeous album I've heard in ages. Congratulation to Athena and her co-producers Joe Boyd and George Andreou for a classic debut.

Greek singer-songwriter Athena Andreadis has been causing quite a stir with her live shows and her self-released EP. This debut album, first released last year, is now given a new lease of life with two extra tracks - "For This Love Affair" and "This Life".
However, neither new track eclipses the earlier offerings. Athena writes confessional love songs, though the poetic atmosphere is more Christina Rossetti than Sylvia Plath. Most moving is the ghostly Satie-esque title track, full of muted passion, which was the original set's closer; the soaring "Eden (Garden State)" is another high point, Athena's soaring soprano framed by a minimalist backing track.

This is a wonderful listen, like the previous unofficial cd which needs a wider release. Her voice has a rare delicacy and subtlety, and its no surprise it's caused such a stir in such a short space of time.

I heard a few notes from this song over a charity advert and was hooked! I sent for the album on the strength of those notes, and was not disappointed. I love every track!! Athenas voice is stunning, well worth a listen.

Athena sings love with a very original style; 14 extraordinary songs about love and its difficulties, all sang and writen by her. I litterally fell in love with this album and I hope you will enjoy listening to it too.

Her voice is absolutely incredible and shows great promise. The songs are lovely, easy to listen to and even complex - every time you listen to them, you discover more nuances. And some of her lyrics are emotionally genius.
But... after the third time I listened to the CD (not consecutively), I started feeling that it was "holding back". I have the impression that, on her first effort, Athena has chosen the safe road, selecting easy-listening tracks, similar to each other and very well suited to her voice. I would love to see her try something bolder, outside her usual range, maybe even by another songwriter, because she really has the voice for more.
All in all, a wonderful record for background music or lazy afternoons at home - but I expect much more interesting things from Athena in the future.

Wonderful voice, wonderful music and wolderful image. What else? It was a surprice for me and for all Greeks that came close to this kind of music the last years. Please go on and you will reach the top for sure!!! We want also concerts in Greece(in Athens also..)
