Bought this on a whim and am glad I did. A really good, gripping book with solid characters and a solid plot. It is nice to read a well written and compact book every now and then. Especially while most authors are trying to drag out over inflated story lines so they fill these dreaded 'trilogies' we are bombarded with at present.
Well worth a read.

Ok I am tearing through all of Robert's books. Clearly written and engaging stories the only criticism I can offer is they are getting me into trouble with the other half. Every time she looks up I have my head buried in the kindle. I picked up this book on the strength of kindle reviews and I have not been disappointed. After reading this book I promptly bought the other three available from the same author. I have read three so far and they are all 5 stars for me.

When I read the authors intro and his struggle to get this book published for 20 years I thought I had a let down in store and the first chapter while generally OK felt a bit forced in establishing the characters motivations. The base premise that our hero is aware of his employers duplicity without real hard evidence from day 0 didn't quite sit right with me.

My reservations couldn't have been more wrong as once the plot takes this base idea and runs with the story your left guessing and wanting to know when its going to kick off. The characters aren't hugely deep but this is ideal for the books rapid development and general style. I literately could not put it down and downloaded the sequel straight away.

I notice the odd negative review here about grammar etc but that's secondary to a cracking good read which this book provides.

It's a crime that an author with such obvious talent was dismissed by publishers for so long and proves that digital self publishing on the kindle etc and the removal of the publisher middle men is a good thing for all. I've read more great Sci-Fi since I got a kindle and starting checking out the self publishers than I had previously just sticking to the main stream and this book is a shining example of that.

This work was written some 20 years ago and the author states, quite frankly, that he couldn't get it published.
I found it a little slow to start and the story takes a while to gather pace. There's quite a bit of space devoted to an interlude where the main protagonist gets involved with a local gang. Quite irrelevant to the main story and it should have been binned.
However, the story quickens relentlessly and the conclusion is totally out of left field.
A good solid read and it's a mandatory lead-in to the even more enjoyable sequel.

I picked this up as a chance buy on the basis of the previous reviews. I had been looking around for new authors a bit tired of the usual suspects.

What a buy!, couldn't put it down.

At the start you are presented with what appear to be a few of the cliche character types, how wrong I was, they evolve and grow the more you read the book and you start to identify with them more and more. The plot is solid and the storyline has plenty of twists without seeming contrived.

I bought the second book in the series before I finished this, just to make sure it was there ready for me to read straight away. That is just as good if not better. Just bought the chronicles books as well and cant wait to get started on them.

What can I say except WOW, what an amazing read! Not my usual genre but after reading the reviews here, I decided to purchase. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish and could not put it down. Great storyline, interesting main characters, lots of action, an air of mystery and an indomitable adversary. Needless to say I'm now reading the sequel.

Robert Taylor will definitely be placed on my 'must read' list. An author with a promising future and, I'm sure, many more amazing books up his proverbial sleeve.

I enjoyed this book,it was easy to read and straight to the point with out over describing everything which a lot of authors do. It was a good concept with interesting Characters who I want to know more about. I also want to know what happens next which is always a good sign.

Well done Mr Taylor, keep writing them and based on this book there is every chance I will keep buying them.

This is a really great book. The characters are interesting and the book is very easy to follow. The author doesn't waste time with lengthy descriptions or explanations of how the futuristic technology works, which is great. I found the odd error in the text but I'm willing to overlook that as it is a cheap price and also the most enjoyable sci-fi story I've read for a while.
