Product Description

Product Description

One in nine women in Western society will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives, making it vital to learn healthy eating strategies to prevent the disease developing. Nutrition is a key tool towards recovery - working with your doctor to build your immune system, rebalancing hormones, increasing your well-being during treatment, and helping your body thrive again without the disease recurring. Suzannah Olivier gives practical advice on all aspects of nutrition relating to breast cancer, explaining the right foods and supplements to fuel the body, with step-by-step eating plans to support a healthy recovery.

From the Author

My passion
Of the ten books I have written, or am writing, this book is my passion. Why? Because I had breast cancer 11 years ago and have spoken to hundreds of women since with the same diagnosis, and I believe that we can do something about the heartache this disease brings. Education about what we can do to prevent this disease must get out there, and we must all realise that we are not powerless in the face of this, or many other, diseases. I know I am not alone in believing this as I have received much correspondence from people who have felt empowered by this book and able to make educated choices and speak to their doctors in a more informed way. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars An invaluable companion to all women., 11 Mar 2001
By angelavince1@aol.com (Buckinghamshire, England) - See all my reviews
This comprehensive book is far more than its title suggests. Apart from going into diet in an in-depth and non-prescriptive way, it also covers all aspects of breast cancer treatments and ways of minimising their side effects.

An invaluable companion, it is written in a very human tone. It has sustained me through my cancer treatment and set me on a path for the future. I am recommending it unreservedly to all my friends .

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for all women to read., 28 Jul 2000
By A Customer
Breast Cancer affects many women in the U.K. Figures vary from 1 in 9 to 1 in 11 of all women will develop breast cancer. This book is not just for those of us who have already been diagnosed with the disease but for all women if they wish to protect themselves.Reading this book helped me to understand some of the reasons why I developed breast cancer. I feel therefore that I have some control over this terrifying disease because if I understand what caused it then I can take steps to prevent a recurrence. As a result I have changed my diet considerably and feel better than I have in years. This is a book not just about diet but about lifestyle and the fact that the author has had breast cancer herself adds credence. The book is very well written with lots of research quoted to back up any claims about which foods help in the battle against cancer and which environmental factors may be the cause.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiration, 27 Mar 2000
By A Customer
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 - a statistic that isn't supposed to happen. However, this book has been my inspiration to fight and hopefully overcome this disease, for myself and for my family and especially my two young children. I have subsequently changed my diet considerably, following ideas in the book and at present I am getting through my chemotherapy much better than I imagined. Its a must for all woman who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
