I am using this book in evening french classes, having learnt french at school 5 years ago, this book is very basic, but for a new user this book is very helpful, and the general consensus in the class is that the book is very useful, and the tapes with the other version aare very helpful.

This book was ordered to help in an adult beginners (or long time away from language study) for my wife. She finds the book excellent , practical help in her studies and finds that its realistic approach to the language on an everyday basis a real help.

I used this in year 2 French (adult education) and it's ok but it's pretty useless out of that environment - you propbably wouldn't get a right lot of use out of it. But if you're attending a class and the teacher is going to be using some examples from it then it's probably worth getting.
Definitely worth having the accompanying CD (it's shown as a different product listed on Amazon).

Only CD received, but the book was required, the CD tells you this but this was not made clear on the advert. CD alone is just no good.

Do not buy this book without the CD.
The book on its own is not very effective. I have found that having the companion CD's very useful and much more effective for learning. Read more
