5.0 out of 5 stars Hodgepodge collection, but wonderful nonetheless 4 April 2001
Format:Audio CD
I must correct the other reviewer. First of all, the three tracks not otherwise on CD are ALL from the late '80s; they are NOT new tracks. They are all on vinyl, that is if you're lucky enough to have them already or can track them down. Secondly, what's this nonsense about "Shapes & Patterns" being a "disappointing listen"? "Shapes & Patterns" is the album that turned me into a Swing Out Sister fan! It is their best work, a fabulous listen from start to finish. As for this collection, the sequencing leaves much to be desired, but the music cannot be faulted. Wonderful tracks all, but why stop here? Get the original albums where these came from in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm certainly swinging.... 2 Aug 2003
Format:Audio CD
I found this a great CD, And as my turntable is Upstairs {How I treasure my original 8o's LPs..They get there own room away from the central heating!!} I can now listen to them in the comfort of the Conservatory. A shame one of my favourites, Twilight world is omitted. Good job I have the original 7" carefully tucked away. I must admit I prefer their earlier stuff but was taken with "Who let the love out" from the later stuff. Grab yourself a copy..Or even better, "It's better to travel" and get the fantastic 80's groove of a yuppie era never to be forgotten back in your home..You know you want to....:-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Swing Out Sister have never sounded so good 1 April 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
If you're anything of a Swing Out Sister fan, there might not appear to be many good reasons to buy this disc - there are only three tracks that aren't present on the group's major albums 'It's Better To Travel', 'Get In Touch With Yourself', 'The Living Return' and 'Kaleidoscope World' - but what a delight those other tracks are.
The tracks 'Another Lost Weekend', 'Fever' and 'Wake Me Up When It's Over' see Swing Out Sister weave their sound in a classic, yet subtly updated form. They've never sounded so good, and the tracks are so fresh that they're worth the purchase price of this album alone. It's a particularly pleasant surprise, particularly if you were disheartened after going to all the trouble of importing Swing Out Sister's recent album 'Shapes And Patterns' only to find it a disappointing listen.
I have to admit that on first hearing the tracks it brought a little tear to my eye, from hearing something completely new and realising that Swing Out Sister are still as fresh and fantastic as they've ever been.
An excellent first purchase for prospective fans, and still thoroughly worthwhile even if you think you've heard it all before. And let's hope the future brings a UK release for the other albums which haven't seen the light of day outside Japan to date.

Wow, what brilliant and original music this is - takes me back to my teens in the 80's when Swing Out Sister came about.
Just a brilliant album to buy - go on - buy it, you won't know till you try it! Happy listening.
