On the day Garbage gathered in Wisconsin to start work on their fourth record, they came up with the glittering and steely "Right Between the Eyes" in all of 30 minutes. Things would not go quite so well with BLEED LIKE ME again.

The band battled illness, surgery, creative disagreements, major life changes and-depending who you ask-either a break-up or a much-needed sabbatical. ... Read more in Amazon's Garbage Store

3.0 out of 5 stars Is three the magic number? 27 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The third commercial release from Beautifulgarbage, the third album from Garbage, comes a single available in 3 cds. Three cutting edge remixes from 3 established artists Brothers in Rhythm, Timo Maas & Eli Janey and three new songs, Happiness Part 2, Confidence & Candy Says, a Velvet Underground cover. A three star rating from myself is all I can give for this wishy-washy song from Garbage.
Whilst maintaining Garbage's distinct sound and innovative beats, and a clear nod to the sound of old, this song is disappointing. Garbage's "Grab-you-by-the-wotsits" attitude that they became so famous for is lost here and further emphasised by a format overload on CD.
As a long term Garbage fan, I will definitely be buying all three singles. I have collected every other one to date and these will be of no exception. To the hardcore fans, these singles have to be part of your collection; otherwise can you really call yourself a fan? The Timo Maas Remix I have heard twice now, and is definitely a commercial breakthrough, and it will be in all the clubs. "Energetic" and "surreal" are definitely words de jour.
But Garbage could have done so much better, although Shirley's voice is on top form. I feel that they have sold out for a commercial release, with the album as a whole and this is no different. The lyrics-by-numbers vibe to the song means they have fallen into a horrible rut, neither cutting edge nor commercial. And whilst this single will sell loads and top the indie chart, it will never do for Garbage what the album "version 2.0" did for them and establish them as artists of their time and genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but misleading.. 4 July 2002
By Chris Colman - Published on Amazon.com

It's good CD but the track listing here is misleading. It only has "Breaking Up The Girl", "Happiness", and "Breaking Up The Girl (Timo Maas Remix)". No video. I was a bit dissapointed, but loved it all the same..

5.0 out of 5 stars A good Garbage single, but the track listing is wrong 24 May 2003

Breaking Up The Girl prt.2 is a good single. The b-side Happinesss prt.2 is experimental-sounding, but I like it. The remix is good too. The track listing listed is for this same single prt.1 for the Austrailian release. Be cautious if you want it.

This cd Breaking Up The Girl is pretty good. It had the original Breaking Up The Girl Track which is really good if you like rock-pop. The second song is Happiness is okay, the begging is really weird she repeats Dosen't know me daddy a few times and there is this keyboard sounding music in the back. Through the entire song She just says Happiness is this a test do you think i'm blessed etc. you can get the lyrics from a garbage page. The song is not bad but it's not the kind of "Garbage" music I like. The last song on this album is Breaking Up The Girl REMIX which personally I HATE!!! Why do people have to make the song sound so dumb. I can not stand techno. But IF you like techno you would probably like it...

Breaking Up the Girl Pt. 2 by Garbage is a great import to say the least. The single is hot, hot, hot and you get a remix track and a new unreleased track called Happiness Part 2. It's kinda funny it is labeled Part 2 when there is no Happiness Part 1. Garbage have the best imports, too bad imports are not a big deal anymore, aww... those were the days!
