This is a very interesting and eclectic collection of essays on a broad range. The introductory essay by Sicher is very interesting, an essay by Saul Friedlander on anything is always useful, and the contrasts drawn between Israeil and 'Diaspora' writing and memory is intriguing. My only caveat is the slight unwillingness to examine the Israeli-Palestinian relationship in this context: occasionally very vehemently denying the possibility of doing so. The essay dealing with artistic responses is amazing and very well-illustrated. All in all a useful addition to any library on the subject
