Product Description

Thirteen-year-old Sadie lives alone with her mum in their seaside bed and breakfast. Her mum thinks Sadie doesn’t try hard enough at anything she does, and her teachers think she’s lazy. As for Sadie herself—she can’t believe that she’s any good at anything, even though she tries so hard.

Suddenly her mum becomes seriously ill and Sadie is left all on her own in charge of the B&B. There are guests arriving at any minute, and she has absolutely no idea how to make a bed, let alone cook them a fried breakfast. How will she cope? Marcus, the techno-geek from next door, tries to help, as does her feisty and clever best friend Kate, but ultimately it is Sadie who is put to the test as she copes with more than she ever thought possible.

Hilarious, moving, and poignant, this is a wonderful story about a girl who overcomes all odds and achieves success in more ways than one.

From the Hardcover edition.

From the Inside Flap

Everything in Sadie's life is going wrong.
School is a nightmare; she can't get good marks, no matter how hard she tries.
Her mum's ill in hospital with some weird disease, and Sadie doesn't know if she'll get better or not.
And Sadie's Aunt, who's supposed to be running the family bed and breakfast until her mum recovers, suddenly disppears in a huff.
Sadie never wanted to run a B&B on her own.
It just sort of happened...

This review is from: Breakfast At Sadie's (Paperback)
Lee Weatherly is an amazing story teller. You are gripped from the first page and she has you shouting out loud at the characters, cringing for them, and crying your eyes out with happiness at the good in the world.
This is as good as Missing Abby and Kat Got your Tongue and they are brilliant! I only have Child X left to read. Write some more quickly please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic read from Lee Weatherly, 9 Aug 2005
This review is from: Breakfast at Sadie's (Hardcover)
For those who are already fans of Lee Weatherly, this book doesn't disapoint. The story very quickly pulls you in and whips you along on poor Sadie's rollercoaster ride.

Weatherly absolutely goes to town with characterisation in this novel, from the hideously petulant Aunt Leona, the evil old bag Mrs Dumont to the utterly addorable swot Marcus.

There's real pathos and totally tear jerking moments - it's a nail biting, emotional read.

I'd totally recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Read!, 26 Aug 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Breakfast At Sadie's (Paperback)
This book is my favourite book of Lee Weatherly's. I have also read Missing Abby and Kat Got Your Tongue, but neither were as realistic and dramatic as this.
Sadie is a fourteen year old girl. She never does well at school, and her mom falls ill in hospital. Her mom sends over a relative, who is meant to come over and help Sadie run the hotel. However, she disappears after not very long, so Sadie is left on her own. Struggling at school, and single-handedly running the B&B, how will she cope?
A thrilling novel, and highly recommended to anybody 12+.
