When you think of Henry Mancini, you inevitably think of either "Peter Gunn" or "Moon River". (Well, maybe "The Pink Panther"--but that became a cartoon show, so it doesn't count!) Breakfast at Tiffany's gave the world the latter tune, and that beautiful melody recurs throughout this soundtrack LP. The soundtrack doesn't include Andy Williams's hit single of "Moon River", but then neither did the film. It does, however, take you through the many moods of the film (and the exploits of Miss Holly Golightly), with an emphasis on Latin influences in the forms of "Latin Golightly" and "Moon River Cha Cha". --Bill Holdship

I bought this CD with only having heard the music for one of them (Breakfast), but I was so completely surprised with the quality of the espionage-spy thriller 'Arabesque'. It's a truly excellant score. I had heard of the film but had no notion of what the music was like. 'Breakfast' is indeed a classic score and tracks such as 'Moon River', 'Something for the Cat' and 'Holly' are its highlights. But if you are to compare it with 'Arabesque' in seems to come up short on variation, orchestration, imagination and scope. 'Breakfast' seems to be TOO easy listening, with 'Arabasque' proving a far more satisfying experience. Now all I have to do is watch the film!

Escuchamos en este cd dos obras maestras del gran compositor Henry Mancini, figura central de la música para películas de Hollywood de los años 60 y 70, ganador de infinidad de Grammys y 4 premios Oscar por su extraordinaria música. Escuchamos el soundtrack de "Breakfast at Tiffany's" y "Arabesque", donde deja relucir sus maravillosas melodías, ritmos pegadizos y sobre todo sus peculiar orquestación que le da un sello muy personal.
Del primer soundtrack destacan obviamente la hermosa composición "Moon River" y su subsecuente arreglo al final de la selección "Moon River Cha-cha" y también la hermosa pieza "Breakfast at Tiffany's" y sobre todo mucho jazz!!!
En "Arabesque" oimos música más compleja y podemos disfrutar de las excelentes composiciones y arreglos de "We've Loved before (Yasmin's Theme)-instrumental y vocal", "Facade"," Shower of Paradise".
Quizá hubiera podido mejorar un poco la calidad de transferencia de sonido ya que hay remasterizaciones màs pulidas pero aún asì es totalmente disfrutable.
Excelente selección de BMG para los amantes de la música para películas.
