Music snobs tend to deride anything connected with "American Idol", but Clarkson is one Idol winner that may prove them all wrong, and if this CD is an indication, she will rise above the apparently restrictive contracts and what is known as "cheesy aura" of the show; all things considered, this CD is a fine effort, and I thoroughly enjoyed the many times I listened to this album in order to give it a fair review, and to its credit, it did not stale, but became better with each hearing. Kelly has a pleasing smokiness to her voice, and a very appealing vibrato; the overall quality of the material is good, and Kelly co-wrote 6 of the 12 tracks (# 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 11). "Addicted" is a favorite, with its slight echo of the Bond film song "The World is Not Enough" by Garbage, and "Beautiful Disaster", appreciated for the simplicity of its solo piano accompaniment.

Now That's What I Call Idol!,

This is the best album to come out of the American Idol show in recent history. Conspicuously short of filler material, every song sounds like airplay material. "Breakaway" launches the album with a mighty kick and it never stops going from there, the grand finale "Beautiful Disaster" being anything but a disaster. It's not hard to detect a little influence of Avril Lavigne on "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes", and there's also a bit of Amy Lee, especially on "Addicted" and "Hear me" thrown in, but this impressive follow-up pushes Clarkson into the running for the best female pop album of the year. Highly recommended for pop/rock fans. Amanda Richards

I have always been a fan of Kelly from American Idol. Her second album is full of amazing songs, half of which she wrote herself. Kelly has proved she has staying power as her second album is heading for platinum in just over 5 weeks. Kelly deserves success in the UK and with amazing songs like 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' 'Because Of You' 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Gone' to name a few of the tracks that will get stuck in your head. Buy this album as it is sure to be one of the best of 2004/05!!
