These words in this fantastic childrens story send goosebumps along your spine, so engrossed as you are in Patsy's story. The whole story is one which keeps you rooting for Patsy all along. It is hard to put down when you start reading and hard to finish as you know you will have to say goodbye to such a great character. Break in the Sun, although written for children can be enjoyed by all ages. I first read this book aged 11 and have read it many times since. I recommend it to anyone who wants to be taken on a heart racing, rendering journey by the brilliant Bernard Ashley.

(BBC Serial)

Patsy hates her new London flat and her cruel, lazy stepfather. She'd much rather be back with just her mum in that little house behind the amusement park in Margate. Soon her worries start to show in a very embarrassing way. But just when things seem desperate, a completely unexpected chance of escape presents itself...

I remember watching this as a series on BBC 1 when I was a child and could only remember bits of it so decided to read the book to refresh my memory-Patsy is a child who lives with her dad and his new family but very much wants to be with her mam or at least the memories of her mam,who lived in a bed and breakfast at a seaside town.It tells the story of how she feels picked on by her dad so decides to runaway to live with her mam.......
