Book Description

30 Aug 2012 Blood Hunter
The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they've discovered the secret of immortality--Meridian. Unfortunately, the radioactive mineral is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class comprised of the super rich and immortal soon evolves. The Collective, as they're called, rule the universe.
Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can't resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective's maximum security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous-or so fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires in space 12 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is 3048 and the very rich people in society now have immortality from a radioactive mineral called Meridian. Those who can afford the treatment get the characteristic violet eyes and become what is known as the Collective and they rule the universe. Ricardo Sanchez is a sexy two thousand year old vampire originally from the now uninhabitable Earth, he is a rogue and pilots the El Cazador. Skylar Rossario is a beautiful undercover blonde who has a mission to rescue a prisoner from the maximum security prison that is Trakis One. She approaches the crew of El Cazador and offers them lots of money to help her with her mission. No one has ever attempted such an impossible task but there are three things the crew of El Cazador can't turn down, beautiful women, impossible missions and lots of money.

I had seen quite a few 5 star reviews before I started reading this book so I thought it was a pretty safe bet that it would be good, plus I loved the cover too. But then I started it and it seemed to be PNR and I was a little turned off and at one point thought about putting it to one side, but I kept reading and I am so glad I did because it turned out to be fantastic. Break Out is a mix of PNR and Sci fi havin vampires, laser guns and space ships. It isn't a very long book but one that kept me entertained throughout. It is a fun read and I loved the characters Rico and the Captain of the El Cazador Tannis they are both funny and come out with great one liners. In fact I have a bit of a crush on the sexy vampire Rico. The plot was a little predictable but Skylar is an interesting character who kept me guessing what she is and what her undercover mission was right until the end. Being PNR there are quite a few sex scenes in the story but nothing that I didn't feel fit in with the plot. I really liked Nina Croft's writing style and I will keep an eye out for other books that she has written, I will definitely be purchasing the second Blood Hunter book Deadly Pursuit. I too am going to give this book 5 stars, and I really recommend this if you like PNR or SFR or vampires.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sizzling Hot Space Opera Complete with Vampires! 3 July 2011
By Aubrie A. Dionne - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Breakout by Nina Croft

Skylar is on first solo mission as an elite intelligence officer. Disconnected from her team, she's completely on her own, and this mission cannot fail. She's trained for every situation, except a sexy vampire rogue who wants to take advantage of her and taste her blood. She can't give in to her desires, because if he gets close enough, he'll learn too much and her mission will fail.

Combine space ships with vampires, pirates, and romance, and you get Breakout by Nina Croft. The characters are so vivid, they jump off the page and talk right at you, and the brilliant dialog made me laugh out loud several times. The chemistry between Skylar and Rico starts hot and doesn't stop heating up, until I thought the ebook would burst into flames on my computer.

A must read for science fiction romance fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Hot Vampire/Space/Alien Romance HOT HOT HOT 3 July 2011
By Rachel Firasek - Published on Amazon.com

I've not read much sci-fi/space opera romance, but if they are all like this, I may be hooked. The story begins with Rico running for his life and doesn't stop the fast paced race until the very end. He's one hot hero. I love that he's not stupid and stayed one step ahead of the heroine.

Skylar is one tough cookie, too. She's vulnerable yet strong, and isn't afraid to ask for what she wants. I found myself cheering her on when she would one-up Rico--no easy task.

Ms. Croft created a whirl-wind story that ate away my afternoon with a fun world and an even funner cast of characters. I loved this book and can't wait for the next installment. I have to know who Al is!

2.0 out of 5 stars Sci-Fi mystery with vampires getting smexy in space. 9 Oct 2012
By Christine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Gosh. I really like this publishing house but I'm not digging this novel. It's dressed up PWP with stereotypes that make me guffaw. Now - I'm not against PWP but this novel is so intent on being "more" that the main story line ends up muddled and several sub plots are just left hanging. Imagine Puss in Boots from the Shrek movies or Zorro - basically imagine Antonio Banderas - playing an ancient sex craved vampire in space (on the ship from Firefly) with a perpetual hard-on and roguish quips. Then imagine a Barbarella dressed heroine who is completely disconnected from her own sexual needs. Then add Mystique from the X-Men, as your Captain, Poison Ivy from Batman as the junior officer, Arya Stark as a young castaway, and a Troll type thing. There's your crew! What a lot of characters just so that 2 people can get it on in space. So our heroine is working for an elite government group on a mission to break out a prisoner from the galaxy's maximum security prison planet. She hires a crew of mercenaries to assist her with the mission by offering them a huge sum of money and telling them the target is her brother. She then spends the rest of the book trying to keep Rick out of her pants. Then she finally gives in after the crew basically tells them both to hurry up and get it on because they can't take it any more. Then a a few sub-plots are dangled in front of us and voila! The heroine and the vamp fall in love, accomplish the mission and run away together. The End.
