Greetings! 16 Oct 2008
Format:DVD
This was a brilliant series and, watching it now it's as fresh now as it was in the mid 1980s to early 1990s when it was first aired on BBC1. Living in Australia now, I haven't seen it in years, so it was wonderful to watch the hilarious antics of the Boswells desperately trying to survive life in working class Liverpool, cheating everything they possibly can from the DSS and hearing such classic lines as "you had a reasonable head on you 'til mother nature put a gob in it" and "she is a tart!!!!" was an absolute treat. It's just a pity they really don't make 'em like this any more. If I could give this 10 stars I would, absolute classic.

Simply wonderful !!! 19 Aug 2003

I simply love these shows - I watched them on tv a few years back and when I stumbled across them at amazon I just had to buy them ! And although they are almost twenty years old they age really well, it's not only that they are funny - which they definetly are - they are also very warm and while watching you feel that the Boswell's are a family you really would like to be a part of. I mean, they are all disfunctional in one way ore another - but very human and one can relate to them and their problems. These are shows you can watch over and over again - - or in the words of Adrian's girlfriend Carmen : "WONDERFUL."!!
My favourites are the parts which take place at the DHSS - and it's also very exciting to watsh the development of Nellies relationship with her estranged husband, Freddie.
A must-see !!!!!

Bread was an excellent series on TV and I loved seeing it again. I watched it with my teenage children and was amazed at how much they could learn about the UK in the late 1970's from this sitcom. I think Carla Lane develops some superb characters and really gets under the skin of what was going on at the time in a very wholesome way. There are some very poignant morals in amongst the skulduggery. It is a big contrast with the world today, hard times, but good times - or am I just getting old. Anyway i highly recommend these DVD which were delivered promptly and very reasonably priced.

laugh out loud!
Eighties it may be, but it's still laugh out loud material! It was good at the time, and it's still good - a pleasing change from some of today's disappointing fare!

Bread Series 1 & 2 and Trumpton/Chigley/Camberwick DVDs
Excellent value for the money. The 'Bread' series was just as funny the second time round - an excellent series without the modern day violence and swearing. Good family enjoyment. Read more

How I loved this show
Okay, so in retrospect, Joey's padded shoulders and big hair no longer look so stylish (the fashion tragedy of the 80's), but he's still extremely cool. Read more
