Boring and shallow 1 July 2009
By Mika
Format:Paperback
This book seemed written by journalists who had visited Brazil for a month or two to do a job, not by people who really knew and love the country. It is bad on Sao Paulo and Recife. No great places for the famous nightlife in these cities and the choice of places to eat was very boring. I found the information on Brazilian life and history in the front boring too - no color or style and very expected. And yet Brazil is not predictable at all. The entries for Rio were the same - the ground was covered but the choice of clubs and restaurants was standard - nothing really special for a night out. Good maps though.

Used it in January 2009 for Rio and Sao Paulo and it wasn't useful at all. It's more like yellow pages than a guide. I much prefer guides that give you some advice, an itinerary and places you have to see. It might be better for the rest of Brazil but I wouldn't recommend it for Rio and Sao Paulo.

Brazil 25 Jan 2012
By WL
Format:Paperback
I went to Brazil in January 2012 and used this book to travel. Information was pretty accurate, concised and straight to the point, i've stayed in some recommended hotels, dined in some mentioned restaurants and done some activities. The prices have risen about 20% since it was published, but still i found the book very usefull.
