What does the Guidance System Do? |
 | Checks position of the thermometer in the ear and confirms the accuracy of the measurement. Beep and light helps to eliminate handling errors. The probe of the thermometer has to fit securely into the ear canal during the complete measuring process before a long beep signals the end of the temperature reading. |
 | A light provides additional accuracy. It flashes during the measuring process as long as the probe is securely positioned and lights up continuously once an accurate reading has been taken. If the probe has not been placed correctly in the ear canal, it will be indicated by the Guidance System. |

I have been using this thermometer for the last 5 years and it is as good today as it was on the day it was purchased. It is used daily in the course of my work and I have another one for home use too. It is singularly the most essential item for any home health kit and no parent should be without one, especially with the current pandemic of swine flu and onset of Winter ills. The readings are at least as accurate as the traditional mercury in glass thermometer but its versatility of use across the whole spectrum of ages, from infant to adult, make it the clear first choice. The memory function for the readings is also useful to monitor progress at home but there is only one so if you'd like more go for the 4520 which has eight.
The covers are best bought in bulk and obviously have to be changed after each patient for professional use, but at home when used on the same patient each time a simple wipe with a damp cloth will be sufficient, meaning that one cover should last the duration of the illness in such cases. For maintenance just wipe over the sensor tip with a damp cloth between uses and storage and that should be enough to keep it in tiptop condition for many years to come. There really is no better thermometer on the market in my opinion, and as all my colleagues use the same one, it is also a professional endorsement.

I bought this digital ear thermometer after buying a cheaper version that was absolutely useless. Don't go cheaper as it really is false economy. I found that the cheaper one (won't mention the make) was too thick on the sensor so each time I put it into baby's ear it couldn't take a reading!
The Braun Thermoscan is simple to use, sits comfortable in baby's ear and gives a very precise reading within seconds. I've not had a problem yet with my little one fidgeting when I try to take a reading, he seems to like listening to the bleep when the reading has been taken! The light that tells you that the sensor is in the correct position for a reading is really great. Would highly recommend this product. You can't put a price on your little one's health.

This is an excellent method of accurately measuring body temperature. It was invaluable during my wife's recent fever for really understanding her temperature changes.

Good product but very overpriced
Good product but in retrospect, having seen similar ones on the market for less than £20 it seems a lot to have paid £40 for it.

must have in every house
