Q: Does the machine use any kind of coffee?
A: No, the Tassimo machine is designed to work exclusively with special pods called Tassimo Discs (T-DISCS). T-DISCS contain precisely measured amounts of coffee, tea, chocolate and concentrated milk.
Q: How does the machine know what to make?
A: When you insert a T-DISC, the Tassimo machine reads the bar code printed on the label. This tells the machine exactly the size of drink, the brewing time and the precise temperature required to make your beverage perfectly. T-DISCS will be in wide distribution in all grocery stores.
Q: How long does it take for the machine to make a cup of coffee (or other beverage?)
A: The machine takes 50 seconds to create hot water from cold. Then, upon inserting a T-disc, a drink is made in between 30 and 45 seconds.
Q: Can I use tap water in the tank?
A: Yes, you may use tap water, but understand that spring water will enhance the flavours of your favourite beverages.
Q: How do you clean the machine?
A: On the first usage, clean the machine with the cleaning disc for rinsing and descaling the machine. Insert the cleaning disc just as you would any other and use a 200ml cup to catch the cleaning water. Repeat this step three times and clean the inside of the machine with the brush tool provided and a damp cloth as in the instructions.
Q: How much water is the machine able to heat up inside
A: The machine holds 200ml of water hot, or approximately 1-2 beverages worth.

A: 1.4 Litres
Q: Can you use the machine in an office?
A: Tassimo is meant for at home use. The machine has been tested to have a life of 6 years with heavy household usage. Office use would presumably increase that level of use and therefore the life of the machine could disappoint. Therefore, Kraft Foods offers a separate office system.

A: 1550 Watts
Q: How long do you need to wait between brew cycles?
A: One of the many key benefits of the Tassimo machine is the ability to make one hot beverage after another, with no aftertaste in between. The time between brewing cycles should be no more than 12 seconds.
Q: What kind of cups should you use for these beverages?
A: Espresso: 75 ml Filter coffee, café crem

Q: What if I want a weaker or stronger drink?
A: Weaker: Use the manual mode to add more water to your drink throughout the brewing cycle. This means you must press the button multiple times to continue the flow through the chamber. Stronger: If you hit the start/stop button during the brew cycle, the brewing cycle will stop and release any remaining liquid into the cup.
Q: Are the parts dishwasher safe?
A: All of the removable parts are dishwasher safe except for the water tank, which must be hand washed. The piercing unit and T-disc holder are removable and should be washed regularly, especially after milk and chocolate drinks.
Q: Does the product need to be descaled?
A: Yes, like all coffee makers and kettles, this also needs to be descaled. Only descaling products should be used to descale the machine, (no vinegar!) Follow the instructions in the user manual.
