Braun’s Silk-épil 5 Xelle 5180 gives efficient results in minutes, leaving skin hair-free and smooth for up to four weeks. It combines the power of 40 tweezers for effective epilation in just a few strokes. With epilation, you get smooth skin that lasts for weeks. As a long time tranny I know all about hair removal and I have owned lots of epilators. If I only had one this is it. Braun are the best and this one is very efficient. Cordless ones are convenient in the bathroom but they lose power quickly so you end up using them plugged in anyway. The wet/dry ones wont let you use them plugged in for safety reasons and using them wet makes no difference, so I wouldn't bother with them. All epilators hurt when you first use them, you have to be brave and persevere, a drink or two helps! Eventually they become bearable but you will always get a temporary rash and itching after use, this wears off in 2-3 hrs, so at bedtime is best! Oh,you also might like to know that after years of using these things a lot of my body hair has given up and doesn't grow back! (for instance my armpits).

I've been using epilators for nearly thirty years so I thought this one would be handy as my hair is now fine enough for me not to need all the pain reducing extras. I couldn't afford my preferred model (a cordless one you can use wet or dry) so I thought this one would be cheap and cheerful. Unfortunately I found that it's not really very effective. It snapped most of my hairs off without pulling them out so I've got quite stubbly legs now, and it took me ~ages~ to epilate (about an hour and a half for both legs - I've never known an epilator take so long).
To add insult to injury Amazon are now offering a reduced price Philips model that costs even less than this one.

After trying to find other methods of hair removal apart from shaving and failing, I turned to epilators (something I knew very little about!) I wanted something that would be effective but also cheap and the Braun 5180 is defiantly that. The price great for a first time user (I wanted to make sure it was for me before spending big money!) And although it is cheaper than others it is perfect for my legs and I wouldn't chose any other! I have used it once and despite the initial pain I found it was very effective (although you will never achieve the post shave silky skin, but that doesn't last long, so nothing to miss!) I am sure that when I get the ropes of using it the results will be fantastic but already it is amazing and great value for money! The light is another great bonus!

good product, two speed and a light which is very helpful, it has to be plugged in to work and doesn't go under xater but for the price I won't complain. I am very satisfied.

This is brilliant. At first I thought I had bought one with the wrong plug but realise it works in the bathroom in the shaver socket which is much more useful.
