I decided the best way to test this razor was to do a direct comparison of this razor against that of a leading brands rotary razor. In order to do this I shaved one side of my face with the Braun Series 3 370, and the other side with the rotary razor. Then to after comparing the results myself, I enlisted my wife to give me her opinion. The results are that it shaved some areas of my face smoother than the rotary, and yet on others the rotary was the better. This goes to show that the face shape, skin type and hair type of each individual person's face can affect the outcome of using a particular shaver. I noticed I had to press harder when using the Braun razor to get it to work well though.
The floating heads do a good job of adapting to the contours of your face and it seems to catch all the hairs whether short or long.
The fact that it can be washed under the tap after each use is a useful feature and should ensure a consistent cut, time after time.
The charge lights will give you a rough idea of how soon you will have to recharge it, though, I'm sure like many men, I tend to just use my razors until the last light is lit then recharge. There is a light to indicate when the foil/heads cartridge needs replacing (approx every 18 months on average), but this can depend a lot on how often and how long you use your razor for. So, again for many, I'm not sure if this is really that useful.
It comes with a good strong carry case, a cleaning brush, a recharging wire with 2 pin plug, and a small bottle of oil). The charging wires plug is what Braun calls a 'Smart Plug' which puts out a lower voltage to reduce the risks of electric shock. The oil is used to lubricate and protect the foil and cutting blades.
Now I come to the one and only negative point! The noise it makes... it is very loud. Over the 20 years I've been shaving, I have used both foil and rotary razors and while over the years rotatory razors have got quieter, foil ones haven't. This Braun is no exception and is as noisy as the first one I ever used 20 odd years ago.
Overall this razor gives a good clean, close shave and is recommend to all.
TIPS:
When first using a new type of razor (E.g. going from rotary to foil) you will most likely suffer from some skin irritation for the first week or two. Just make sure to wash your face with warm water afterwards and apply a soothing after shave gel or moisturiser.
Using the supplied oil will keep your razor's cutters and foil sharper and cleaner for longer. Just a apply a little to the foil and spread it over with a finger, then switch the razor on for 10 seconds to ensure the oil penetrates through the foil to the cutters.
