The Oral-B Pulsonic rechargeable toothbrush is specially designed for superior cleaning and heathier gums. Its manual style brush head features pulsating round-ended bristles that naturally clean and whiten teeth by removing surface stains. This Pulsonic toothbrush also features pressure sensors that light up to prevent you from brushing too hard. Depending on your preference, choose one of three personalisation modes, including Clean, Sensitive and Massage. To ensure effective brushing, the Pulsonic toothbrush has a 2 minute timer that alerts every 30 seconds to guide brushing. I converted to electric toothbrushes quite a few years ago. I have had different Braun models in the past, including the more typical "rotary head" style brush and a previous incarnation of the sonic type.
Sonic technology seems to have moved on since my previous brush as this toothbrush does a far better job. I had move back to rotary brushes after an underwhelming experience with the previous sonic brush, but this one delivers on the promise. The brush heads seem large after you have been used to the rotary head brushes, but still small enough to navigate to the back and down the sides of your teeth.
The final clean seems perfectly good. However, I do feel that the rotary head design might suit me better - it seems to get in between the teeth a little better. I can't say for sure that the sonic brush fails to do this, but it just "feels" like that.
Other reviewers have mentioned the audible reminders and the different brushing settings, so I will skip past that. What I will add is that, as one might expect from Braun, the brush is nicely designed and made, with a pleasing weight and balance. The charging unit is unobtrusive and elegant even.
I removed one star only because of the entirely subjective feeling that this brush head design doesn't seem to clean as well as the rotary head that I am used to. You may come to a different conclusion.

I've used a number of electric toothbrushes over the last few years, but none of them were especially great. I was back to using my own arm power to clean my teeth.
Then this thing came along, and was a quiet revelation. I know that sounds stupid, because we're talking about cleaning teeth here, but this thing has changed the way I clean my teeth, leaving my mouth looking and feeling clever than ever.
So basically, it's a sonic toothbrush, which means it vibrates at a very high speed. The best way I've found to use this is to move it slowly around your mouth, allowing the brush to do the work.
What's really nice though is that it features a built in 2 minute timer. Turn it on, and start brushing one "quadrant" of your mouth (eg. bottom left). Then after 30 seconds, it will beep, and you move onto the next part. And again. This encourages you to brush your teeth for a full 2 minutes every time, and spend an equal amount of time on each part of your mouth. Simple idea, but highly effective.
The battery lasts a good while for me, a bit less than two weeks, and the charger is inductive, meaning you don't plug the brush in, you just sit it on the plastic plinth and it charges. Safe, and clean. No changing batteries, or risk of electrocution.
My mouth is cleaner than it's ever been, thanks Oral-B.

This is an expensive electric toothbrush so what makes it so special?
My wife is the electric toothbrush user in our household, having used one for several years. This one is sonic, meaning that the vibration is created by sound waves propagating through the brush head instead of using an electric motor to produce brush movement. She said it was easy to adjust to and cleaned her teeth much more effectively than either a normal toothbrush or her previous Oral-B motorised brush. The main adjustment (aside from the noise - see below) is that you must have the toothbrush in your mouth before turning it on as the default brushing mode is quite vigorous (translation: toothpaste on the walls if you don't!)
Being a sonic toothbrush it is relatively noisy compared to a motorised brush - something to bear in mind if you have a partner that gets up at a different time to you and have an en-suite bathroom as so many more modern houses do.
The toothbrush has three modes - daily clean (the default), sensitive and massage - and either of the first two will do the job admirably. Possibly the one thing to get used to is the relative lack of motion with a sonic brush, the temptation is to start moving the brush in the traditional way when in fact it isn't needed.
Replacement heads are available from Amazon at a cost of £8.49 for two - the cheapest I could find during a ten minute search using Google and various shopping sites.
All round this appears to be a good quality brush and a very effective one.

Good Product
