Product Description

Oral-B ProfessionalCare 8500 DLX OxyJet Center combines the Oral-B ProfessionalCare 8000 power toothbrush and the world's first oral irrigator with unique micro-bubble technology. The OxyJet irrigator mixes air and water, then pressurizes it to form millions of long-lasting micro-bubbles designed to attack plaque bacteria. Used in conjunction with a toothbrush, the irrigator significantly reduces the bleeding and bacteria associated with gingivitis.

I bought this to entice me into taking better care of my gums. I already use a Braun Electric Toothbrush and it has changed my life and I used to floss but I had lost all interest recently and could feel that it was taking its toll on my breath. I had looked at similar products at shops and could not justify the price of over £100 so I shopped online and I was glad to find this which seemed better than the opposition and cheaper. The reason I bought this specifically was because I have used Braun bathroom electronics and they are the only company I have come to trust to deliver quality every single time.
The Good:
-Large 600ml reservoir.
-Allows for using mouth rinse.
-Two head settings, single jet and rotating stream.
-Electric (as opposed to battery operated).
-Automatically switches off to save power.
-4 Additional heads.
-5 strength settings.
The Bad:
-Limited reach due to using power and being connected to the base.
-The handle is hollow and feels a little cheap.
The Mediocre
-The base seems a bit large, although this reduces the size of the handle.
-The reservoir is large, but I was only enough to run over each tooth (front and back) twice

I have not used other oral irrigators before but I feel the jet is strong enough to replace floss, and my gums feel healthy and my mouth feels fresh.

Braun Oral-B Professional Care dental water jet OxyJet

I am very pleased with this dental cleaner. I'm sure it will save me visits to the dentist for cleaning and polishing. It is very easy to use, and leaves my mouth feeling refreshed. I also find it good for cleaning my tongue, as I often gag when using the back of a toothbrush.

I ordered a braun as I had a Kitty jet before and my kitty jet wire was leaking water. I thought the braun would be a good product as it was about £30 more. However when I received it I was so disappointed it had no power whatsoever. My teeth did not feel clean and it did not seem to remove food between my teeth. The good thing is that the company was very good. I wrote to Amazon and they immediately issued a refund and I went back to ordering a Kitty jet which feels more powerful. the good thing about the braun which was more neat but that is all

EDIT:

After umming and ahhing I decided it was just too much of a pain to return to Germany (where seller is) as I couldn't find the instruction book I was told I need to return it with. I'd missed the one year guarantee period. It sat in a dark corner. I discovered the guarantee was not for one but two years so just before guarantee expired I stopped my mega procrastination and sent it back. I'd found the booklet but would have sent it regardless - what did it really matter after all? It cost me £22 to send it recorded to Germany but it would have been ridiculous if it had got lost.

The kind and helpful German seller was a little bemused at my late return but accepted it and Braun repaired it and returned it within a matter of weeks. It works - I think - better than it did when it was new. I am very pleased to have it back as while brushing and flossing well is good even so you can still flush stuff out!

I was a tad disappointed not to get postage back as it was a faulty machine but I haven't pursued the matter in this instance. It was ridiculous not to deal with it promptly but sometimes things conspire to make you do 'stupid'. I've had it back for about 2 months and am enjoying cleaner gnashers and gums. Can't imagine why they're not sold here - it works more than well enough - for now.

Original review.
This replaces an oxyjet water jet which in turn replaced my original oxyjet machine. In turn each version is less strong than previous models. Perhaps it was decided a strong jet might damage gums?

I usually go to the dentist once every 3 months to have a check up. I own a Oxyjet from 1996 and my gums have simply stopped their regression.
Being myself a bit eccentric I have tried to do exactly what I should not have done: add some mouthwash. NEVER DO IT AGAIN.
I find the Oxyjet first beneficial return within a couple of days and every evening after if patience is there simply allowing the rotating jet around gums inside and outside, it is the most pleasant operation of the day. It is not as efficient as other jets in getting things out in between teeth, but gums seem to find stimulus from the jet itself to regenerate something and stop bleeding. ~My DNA is related to mother so my gums are particularly weak. This is the very first tool I find Efficient with Capital E! There are some tricks to keep the propeller units work longer, at times we need to suck water out using our mouth to get rid of those minute particles which inevitably build up inside the propeller like lime. It would be better if water system in house is properly filtered.
It is the best product I have found so far.
All the other water picks except for travel packs are not that efficient I am afraid to say.

Ernesto
