Product Description
Sugar and jam thermometer indicating temperature over the range of 40 to 200°C in 2°C divisions.The sugar and jam thermometer's brass casing measures 47 x 200mm plus a 40mm copper handle. The sugar/jam thermometer's scale is clearly marked for caramel, crack, hard ball, soft ball,jam and sterilise. Simply insert the sugar and jam thermometer into the liquid being measured to the level indicated and read the temperature.

I've never used a cooking thermometer before. This one is solid and excellent quality. It's obviously durable and cleans very easily. I used it for making seville orange marmalade, which has turned out perfectly as a consequence. Of course I've no other thermometers to compare it with, but I really like this one and wouldn't swap it for a digital etc.

This is a quality product. It is accurate and is easy to clean. The jams made since using this thermometer are of the correct consistency and spreadability. When first used the cold plate test was still used as a back up. There is no need to check anymore now that this thermometer is in use - I am confident in its accuracy. Only problem could be when using a large maslin pan and a small volume of jam. The thermometer would need to be almost laid flat to get the jam up to level for the thermometer to register the correct temperature (solution use a smaller pan).
