I bought these for a 2 week hutting holiday in the Alps. They fitted my feet very well and were comfortable from the start, with no breaking in required. They were used through a variety of rain, snow and sun on a very mixed set of paths. They were also used on shorter sections of rock and snow. The grip seemed OK on all surfaces and the underfoot cushioning was very good. The only drawback I have found is that they gape a bit at the top and so can let in small stones when I am wearing shorts.

The boots were bought as replacements for Brasher Hillmasters, whose soles were very worn down after 6 weeks use mainly on rocky paths. By comparison, the Fellmasters have a slightly more flexible but much more shock absorbent sole. They seem to be just as good on rock, with the added benefit of producing no blisters. The soles also seem to be wearing better than the Hillmasters.

I bought these as I'm going on a trip to Nepal at the end of next month and needed some decent trekking/walking boots.
Having used to work in Blacks I know a bit or two about boots and knew Brasher are a well recommended brand as I used to have many customers tell me theirs laster for years before having to buy new ones.
So now I am taking a lesson out of their books and bought the Brasher Fellmaster in a UK 9.

They arrived today and so far I am extremely happy with them. I did try on some other boots at Go Outdoors but these were the best that suited my needs and were most comfortable.
They have reasonably good ankle support (they are a walking/hiking boot afterall - not a mountain boot), and are well designed with a much more modern sleeker look.
The grip is very good despite not having a Vibram sole and the rubberised toes add that extra bit of protection. The sole also has quite a rugged imprint with plenty of nobs and features for grip.
They are extremely comfortable, the leather they use is quite supportive yet forgiving at the same time.
The tongue is a little stiff to begin with but that soon softens up and there is plenty room for a decent pair of hiking socks and allowing your feet to swell a little when you go out walking/hiking.

Overall I am extremely pleased with these boots.
I will give an update when I get back from Nepal.

Update (09/04/13)
After having tried and tested these boots in Nepal on the way to Everest Base Camp - I must say I HIGHLY recommend them. Mine have now been used and abused and are still going strong.
I find that they are good for both walking/hiking in and also for casual out and about wearing when the laces are eased off and aren't so tight.

Excellent comfortable lightweight walking boot, which, after 3 outings are almost unnoticeable in wear. Easily cleaned and waterproof thus far.

After ordering these boots , everyone I spoke to said that I had made a mistake as do several other reviews. I can only say that the pair I bought are excellent. They are extremely comfortable, a really good fit and are really waterproof - I have waded through a lot of shallow flood water in them and kept perfectly dry. The soles give good grip and wearing in has been minimal, they were comfortable from day one, I have at present walked a hundred miles or so and the boots are fine. THE only problem I had was that one of the top cleats pulled off on day one - this being due to them having only one rivet so I've been very careful when lacing them up since then.

I hike regularly and after having a fifth metatarsal fusion on my left foot last year needed a solid, comfortable boot to allow me to peruse my passion. The Brasher Fellmaster is it! Other than being extremely water proof, great grip and easy to clean, the contour of the soul at the toe allows my foot to 'rock' naturally and I can walk for hours and my feet do not ache. I use a gel insole as well for shock absorption. If you want a boot that works look no further! A bonus is the Simply Group were fantastic on delivery, missed the first but the second was spot on and they email you via Amazon almost up to the hour of delivery, great!

I'm now on my second pair of these. I walk a lot and typically 12-20 mile routes (these days I try to get out every weekend I can and also 1-2 week walking holidays). With that level of use first set of boots lasted 20 months. By that time I'd worn flats on bits of the sole, so had to change. The boots were comfortable from the start, and remained comfortable and waterproof throughout the time I used them. I've had boots by Meindle, Scarpa, Zamberlan and Salomon in the past, and these beat all those for comfort (with the possible exception of the Salomons, but that's comparing fabric and leather boots) and they're every bit as durable as those other makes.

Ever since by first pair of Brashers, they never cease to amaze me how you can go on a long walk with no breaking in at all, a smile came across my face as i started out on foot, the same way it did many years ago with my Hillmasters. I must say the Fellmasters are without doubt the best so far for comfort, and like all Brasher boots, if you've got waterproof trousers on, you can wade through deep puddles as if your in wellies. Delivery by Millets was very slow, so 5 stars are for the great boots only. Going out in the rain now, keep on walking!
