Synopsis

BRANNIGAN is an Irish Chicago cop (John Wayne) who goes to London in search of an American racketeer who fled the United States to avoid a grand jury. As the search develops, so does an interesting conflict between the Chicago detective and his Scotland Yard counterpart. This action-packed search through London sees Brannigan undergoing a death defying leap across Tower Bridge and a pub brawl to not only get his man, but out-manoevre an assassin on his own tail.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Duke Hits London, 14 Jan 2004
A very under valued John Wayne classic. The Duke hits London town to investigate a crime in front of various London landmarks and is aided by an A-Z of British acting talent. Notable scenes include the inevitable car chase and jump over Tower Bridge and of course a Cockney pub brawl with the Duke delivering some choice haymakers. Get off your horse, drink your milk and check this film out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad; just not a Classic., 4 Mar 2007
It's not thought provoking and it's not a masterpeice but then I think we have to bear in mind it wasn't meant to be. If you take it as "Dirty Harry" transfered to London with John Wayne as the lead then this ain't too bad. The plot is good as are the performances. Seventies UK Fords are much in evidence if cars are your thing as are a couple of ratty Jaguars (an E-Type and an S-type) just as any self respecting crook would drive in the era. The car chase is exciting and some of the camera effects are nicely done plus you get a good view of mid seventies London and all the tourist sites plus shots of a London "character" that has long since disappeared never to return. Think "The Sweeny" in places. I bought in for under a fiver and wasn't disappointed. If the TV is rubbish order a pizza and watch this to while away a couple of hours.

(REAL NAME)
An Irish American Cop complete with Gun in Olde World London England. Complete with dark alleys cobwebs and tourist traps

he does not understand english rules or ways and insists on doing it the Cowboy John Wayne way.

A Classic mould for others to copy

A good movie with a good cast. John Wayne is in London on the hunt for a Chicago gangster played by John Vernon. Unfortunitly he has been kidnapped by some British gangsters. Read more
