Very nice album by Laura Branigan and worthy of a place in your collection. Re-issue label has done a good job with it even though it took them forever to issue it. It's always better buying Gold Legion releases from Amazon as they are not trust worthy or dependable to order direct.

The album that made me a fan... 17 July 2014
By JJ - Published on Amazon.com
When I first heard this album, I was blown away by the beauty and sheer power of Laura's voice, and I knew we would be hearing more from her. Although most people remember the hit single/anthem "Gloria," the album is full of so many songs worth a listen and each one is great in my opinion. Laura Branigan really knew how to sing a ballad from the heart and "Lovin' You Baby" and "If You Loved Me" are certainly two of those songs. Her ability to convey raw emotion, along with that cry in her voice is simply awe inspiring. There is no other artist quite like her and she is deeply missed.

This CD is remastered, making Laura's vocals really shine through. CD is chock full of great dance, pop and ballads, enough to please anyone. The added tracks are a nice bonus. They include:

Looking Out For Number One (a great song to listen to if your heart was broken by someone)
Tell Him - remake of The Exciters hit
Fools Affair - another beautiful ballad
Love Me Tonight - fun, kind of rockabilly
When - Laura wrote this beautiful, haunting ballad
Looking Out For Number One - single version
Gloria -12" version

Great remastered edition of a strong debut 13 Aug 2014
By Louis - Published on Amazon.com
Laura Branigan is one of those singers from the 80s that everyone remembers. She may not have had the same amount of hit singles as many of her peers from that era – Olivia Newton-John, Madonna, Pat Benatar and Sheena Easton, just to name a few – but the first half of that decade was punctuated by hit singles that featured her uncommonly expressive and powerful voice. “Branigan”, her debut album, is of course dominated by her biggest hit, “Gloria”, but there’s more to it than this song. For one thing, it features some of her best ballads “All night with me” demonstrates how nuanced a singer she was, “If you loved me” and “Maybe I love you” are melodic and flawlessly performed, and “I wish we could be alone” demonstrated her credibility as a songwriter (a talent that would finally become evident on her final album, 1993’s “Over My Heart”). “Gloria” asides, the uptempo tracks were not always as convincing, the exception being “Living a lie”, but they were nonetheless entertaining. This expanded and remastered edition is generous on bonus tracks, delivering singles and B-Sides that were originally meant for her debut album but got shelved after performing poorly on the charts; “When” is easily the best of the lot, although “Fools’ affair”, the single edit of “Looking out for number one” and “Love me tonight” all stand out. The album is wrapped up in extensive liner notes featuring interviews with the producers, songwriters and musicians who worked with Laura on this album. It’s certainly a treat for fans.

Great sound, great tracks! 21 Aug 2014

After a very long wait on the remastering, this CD was finally released. Just like 'Self Control,' the sound remastering is superb. In expectation of this release, I had been listening to the original version and I must say the sound is like night and day. I am so glad they are doing this for Laura's albums (a remastered version of 'Branigan 2' is coming soon). I could go on and on about Laura and her great talent, but I feel that it would be overkill: we all know what we're getting in that department. What I will say is that not only does this album sound great, it also contains songs that some of us have only had on B-Sides of 45's or 12 Inch releases. I was thrilled to see 'When' and 'Looking Out for Number One' on this release. Plus some great surprises such as 'Tell Him' and 'Fool's Affair.' Considering that many of these extra tracks seem to be from Laura's first album (before her Branigan album, which became her official first release), it is almost like we're getting two albums in one. Can't wait for Branigan 2!!
