Book Description

3 Mar 2011 Business Success
The only way forward for business success is to create a memorable brand and fix it in the consumer's mind. Branding Your Business explains the whole branding process in easy-to-follow terms. Providing practical help instead of academic theories, it explains what a brand is and what it is not, how to conduct a 'DIY' brand audit and how to use marketing NLP and psychology principles to create a powerful brand for your business. Based around the theory that a brand is the total perception a customer has about a company, its products or services, Branding Your Business will reveal what is needed to create and manage successful brands, increase profits and leave the competition standing.

Review

"Branding Your Business is a superb book pitched perfectly at those looking to understand what branding is about and how it can help boost their business. Hammond guides the reader gently through the latest thinking in branding, including the vital role played by emotions and the senses in purchase decisions. Well written, clearly structured and packed full of sound advice, Hammond has produced an outstanding and intelligent guide to branding in the 21st century." (Roderick E Wilkes, Chief Executive, Chartered Institute of Marketing)

"A brand is more than a name. It is the beginning of a lifetime dialogue between brand and consumer. The challenge has always been to launch and sustain a unique brand conversation - a dialogue so engaging that it renders the brand unforgettable. In Branding Your Business, James Hammond describes beautifully how to meet and overcome this fundamental challenge." (Martin Lindstrom, author of Brandwashed and Buyology)

"Few of us give enough consideration to the amount of detailed thought that needs to go into building a convincing brand. James' comprehensive book explains the what, why and how of branding in a thought-provoking and entertaining way. This book is a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs and business managers who want to understand and develop powerful brands." (Beth Rogers, Senior Lecturer in Sales and Marketing, Portsmouth Business School)

5.0 out of 5 stars An important book 22 Nov 2012
Format:Paperback
Whether you agree or not with James Hammond's analysis, this is an important book, attacking much of the conventional wisdom peddled by branding experts. It's well written and provocative, and I found it a thought-provoking read, which clearly draws upon James's extensive experience working with famous brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars They call him 'The Brand Doctor' 7 May 2012
Format:Paperback
When people are ill they go to a physician. When companies are ill
they go to James Hammond.

James has worked with many of the world's leading companies, big
and small. His insight into branding is unique and nothing like what
I've experienced before.

After just reading the first few pages I realised everything I knew about
branding was wrong. And then some.

I can go on about what's covered in the book and how many pages there are and
whatnot, but the real proof of its values lies in the following two facts:

1. As a result of just reading the first chapter I'm now overhauling two of my
websites and making changes to my offline business.
2. I told one of my local offline clients to hold off on some branding ideas
I had for his business until I've finished reading this book.

Now, in this book, James literally gives away the secrets he uses to help blue chip
companies, and we get them for next to nothing. What a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book on branding for small businesses 31 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
James Hammond's book Branding Your Business is an excellent book on how to promote your small business (or even your non-profit). This book has 18 chapters and contains a little over 260 pages of great information.

James keeps you entertained in this well written book and it is one for your library shelf. He provides friendly advice and advises that the reader read the whole book, which I did.

Hammond's says that you can "bootstrap" your small business, "but you can't bootstrap your brand." He also provides great examples of companies such as Amazon, Apple, and Coke and how they do their branding.

Even if you think this book is for big business, it is not. It is for the small business owner that is trying to capture customers by getting them to love the brand through emotions, perception, and customer experience. Great businesses do this and they do it through their brand! This is a great book on branding (reviewed on Inteljim.com).
