This review is from: Brand-Name Diabetic Meals in Minutes: Quick & Healthy Recipes to Make Your Meals Tastier & Your Life Easier (Paperback)
As my partner has recently been diagnosed as diabetic, I was quite excited when I saw this book listed. While I am an enthusiastic and capable (ex-professional) cook, it is always good to have some quick stand-bys on hand for everyday eating.
However, I was very disappointed with the content. Many of the listed "convenience" ingredients are not, as far as I know, available in the UK. Nor, I regret to say, do the recipes make it worth seeking them out. Those who find nothing repellent about Garrison Keillor's description of "Tuna Hotdish" in Lake Woebegone may find this book of use. Others may join me in finding it, at best, unimaginative.
In many cases, the convenience ingredients seemed to be there for the sake of it rather than for a genuine time saving. The fact that the book appears to be sponsored by some of the manufacturers of food products listed may be significant.
I'm afraid I was so little enamoured of it that I returned it the following day - the first time for any of my Amazon purchases.
