This was given to our 5-y-o son as a birthday present a week ago. So far he absolutely loves it. We thought that the end that is stars and constellations would be fun as it turns slowly and projects onto the ceiling, and we thought the photos of space, astronauts and nebulae wouldn't capture his imagination. However, we were wrong, and it's definitely the photos that fascinate him. He wants to know all the technical information about the different planets, etc and doesn't seem to see the point of the "night light" end at the moment.

To be honest, I'm not sure how long he'll stay interested - I certainly wish that there were more than the three discs of eight pictures each, as I'm already getting a bit bored with them (he isn't yet!). Which is a pity, as the photos are lovely (though I would agree with other reviewers who have had problems getting pin-sharp projections on the ceiling).

Seems fairly well-made, though the black hemispheres that have holes in to show the starlit night and the constellations are made of quite brittle plastic, so probably need careful handling.

The disks are easy to handle and insert, so our son can play with it by himself (which is useful). They are also different colours so he can easily identify which one he wants to see.

All in all it's a really nice present that is further encouraging his interest in space and the planets.

One of many educational toys bought as a present for my 4yr old nephew. Thought I would give him something to learn from as he will be going to school soon, rather that just toys. He easily worked out the slide cards/pictures, Loves the fact it shines up on the ceiling and can change the pictures. Reasonably priced, still working after a couple of months, he loves it. A good gift alternative.

i bought this item when it was on sale for just under '9 as an xmas pressy for a friends son who-s into everything to do with space.
was dubious whether it would be worth the money but was pleasantly suprised.
though light weight & battery operated, it seems robust, is bright & clear & extremely easy to use.
even i as an adult (well, big kid really) found the pictures & info. card interesting.
    well worth the money!

Not as interactive as I had hoped you have to manually change the pictures but it is nice to look at on the way to sleep

Very pleased. Bought as a present for a 4 year old who loves it! He can work it himself and it can be used as a torch and a night light. Not sure how accurate it would be for an older child as an educational toy though.

My 5 year old son loves this. It matches his space themed bedroom well. He loves looking at the projector on his ceiling.

A cheap but reasonable purchase. It is never going to blow you away at such a cheap price and the lack of automatic rotation of slides is a drawback BUT it does what it says. Cheap & cheerful
