As someone trying hard to learn and play this rhapsody, I have listened to a lot of interpretations of this piece. It seems to me that Argerich is the best, her naturalness and control of nuances are supreme. It is always a temptation with performers to show off virtuosity and play too fast - the result puts the pianist, his technique and possibly his impatience in front whereas the music and the emotion come second and third. In my modest way, I feel the pull too, as I get more confident with the score. This is why it seems to me so important that Argerich resists this temptation and lets show the mystery and beauty of the music. The ideal interpretation.
