I'm an amateur clarinettist and thought I should have a recording of these works by Brahms in the standard repertoire. Despite being a bit more expensive, I went for Fröst as I really enjoyed his interpretation of similar music by Schumann. I wasn't disappointed. The playing is superb, and I get the feeling all three performers really understand the music. Gorgeous music, gorgeously played.

Three great musicians meet over some strangely neglected music by one of the great classical composers.
Fröst is playing almost to beautiful for this music, you would want some more intensity is some parts. But the phrasing and colouring is wonderful.
Pöntinen has showed his understanding for Brahms chamber music, for example together with Ulf Wallin in the violin sonatas. Here he does it again - best pianist in a supporting role.
Thedéen is the cellist that is playing every note as if it was a question about life or death. So much intensity and nerve!
Together they deliver a very interesting Brahms.

Wonderful performances, impeccably recorded...best modern/digital CD out there for these concertos...every time I listen I am taken somewhere I want to...need to go...over and over again...
