The quality of the maps and town plans in this atlas is first class bearing in mind it is using maps from the 1850s.
It complements Bradshaw's Handbook perfectly.

This volume is well produced and invaluable for the raiway historian. It is worth buying for the maps alone but also contains a treasure trove of extra town plans and illustrations. Highly recommended.

I bought this as a present for my husband's birthday. It is lovely. Apart from the maps the colour plates give atmosphere to the time.

This book is a MUST if you're enjoying Michael Portillo's 'Great British Railway Journeys' on BBC2 based on Bradshaw's Guide. It has not only detailed maps of the Victorian railway network, but also town plans and scenes. Whether you like maps or railways or Michael Portillo, this is an excellent companion! Highly recommended.
