Bought this for the Brabantia Compact Rotary Dryer 40m Metallic Grey (this is the correct spike as recommended on the manufacturer's packaging as opposed to the recommended spike on Amazon's page).
Anyway...didn't need to visit the gym the day I put this in the ground. The spike is quite long and actually needs quite a depth to hammer into your garden (about 40-50cm). I used an old wooden board and a hammer, then I used a neighbour's mallet. Finally with about an inch to go and with it not budging at all, I sought out the largest rock in our garden (about a foot wide and about 20kg) and in true caveman style beat metal with rock - job done. Something primeval kicked in and with a great sense of satisfaction the spike was embedded in the ground. Man and rock conquers all. With the same sense of pride as a warrior raising a flag in victory after a battle I picked up that Brabantia Rotary drier and held it aloft and placed it into the hole!
The hole at the top got slightly mangled in the process and needed stretching with a pair of plyers to allow the twirly/whirly/whatever to fit.
It's wedged in without a doubt and is flush with the grass. At least this way wont require laying concrete or postcrete and I suppose the dfficulty depends on the soil type.
For the sheer frustration of getting this in the ground I only give it 3 stars.
