Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a very nice peddle bin. Lovely minty colour, looks like a comedy over-sized bullet for a giant pastel revolver.
But please note that "motion control" as used in the publicity DOES NOT mean you can wave your hand at the bin and watch it open like magic, like an Xbox Kinect or something. Shame. What it does refer to is the nice slow opening and closing motion of the bin lid regardless of how hard you press the pedal. There's a natty manual method of getting the lid open quick for changing the bin bags which is very welcome too.
My only complaints are that it is a bit of an in between size, far to big for a bathroom and about 2 thirds of the size I personally go for in a kitchen bin. So if you do plan to put this in the kitchen you'll be changing the bags pretty often.
Which leads me to my next grumble; the bags. Nothing really fits very well apart from Brabantia's own bin bags which cost £6.50 for 40, compared with £1.50 for a roll of 80 bin liners at my local super market or free from the local council. But using non Brabantia bin liners has been a recipe for rubbish leaking down the inside of the bin. An unpleasant job to clear up.
But if you don't mind paying for the liners this is indeed a lovely bin.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I had two Brabantia bins before I got this one, and I loved both of them. They were a little battered, one was dented, but both still worked perfectly. I have had many kitchen bins before, of various brands and from different shops, but they all lasted for around about a year before the opening mechanism would fail and I would have to buy a new one. Brabantia then became my go-to brand for long-lasting bins.

And I love this one even more than my other two. The reason? The soft-close mechanism! My usual Brabantias (with a flat circular lid) would clang shut, and although slightly annoying it was just something I had got used to. This bin is QUIET, you can't hear the lid shut at all, and in fact sometimes I turn round to put something else in the bin to find that it's already closed shut!

The matt finish is also stylish, although I don't know if it will last as long as the usual finishing (I have a matt metallic Brabantia, but that is a smooth finish and not a rough raspy finish like this one).

Overall: GREAT BIN, you can't go wrong with Brabantia.

An absolutely superb bin. Looks elegant, with a high quality finish that would compliment not only the kitchen but any room around the house.

And such a supper quiet lid too!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This bin is fantastic as a kitchen bin for a couple or up to 2 person family, otherwise it is too small unless you are an avid composter in a largish family and use this for your peelings etc. As a household of 7 this is a very useful bathroom bin.

The bin is pedal action, but can be raised manually without stressing the mechanism (had a different brand bin break that way) and will hold up until pushed down if raised that manner, so won't fall back on your hands if disposing of a sizable item.
There is a removable 'bucket' lining the blue outer casing meaning you can carry the rubbish away without taking the whole bin, you can wash the inside much easier and protects the case from leakages & staining contents. The handle can however make putting the disposable bin liner a bit fiddly.

The design aspect is very attractive, a matte duck egg blue and coated so it doesn't feel cold or metallic to touch. It is quite chunky as it is squatter than other 20L bins which tend to be slimline. This design factor however means that you are somewhat tied into purchasing their bin-liners unless you want a regular one quarter to half-filled.

Overall this is a lovely bin, too small in this size for most households as a regular bin, but useful in other contexts or sizes.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Received this through the Vine programme and I have to say it's a lot smaller than I thought. Imagine two bottles of wine standing one on top of the other- that's how tall it is. So although it's sitting in the kitchen it's not quite the 50l beast we had before (the closing mechanism on the old one had gone). On the positive side the open and closing action is something to behold - smooth, quiet, almost mesmerising. The colour is slightly on the blue side of green, so it doesn't stick out like a sore, gangrenous thumb. A pack of bin bags tops this off. I think maybe a smaller bin might not be a bad idea for a kitchen - you're forced to change it more often. And the curves will have all our other bins green with envy.

Pricey perhaps - was £92 when I looked. But it's elegant and reeks of quality, long life and Branbantia are renowned for their post sales support. If the colour and size and price are ok for you, you certainly won't be disappointed.
