From the Publisher

BOYS' TOYS provides a colourful, illustrated history of the most memorable toys from the sixties, seventies and eighties. Author Jed Novick spares no detail in presenting a nostalgic look at the toys that defined boyhood for today's men. Filled with fascinating background stories and specially commissioned photographs, BOYS' TOYS is a tribute to the cars, planes, trains and games that made life fun for millions of kids, including:
* Action heroes like GI Joe and Action Man
* Movie and television tie-ins from Star Wars, Starsky & Hutch and Dr. Who
* Vehicles from Matchbox, Hot Wheels, and Corgi
* Trains from Hornby, and plane kits from Airfix
* Design classics like Slinky, Silly Putty, LEGO and Spirograph
* Computer games from Atari, Apple and Commodore
* And many more!

Like flipping through catalogues of the past, BOYS' TOYS is full of the toys you had or always wanted. And this time you don't have to share!

Nice memories of the toys that made our days in the 70's. Emphasis on American boys.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blasts from the past. 9 Jan 2010
I bought a copy on offer for me; as a middle aged man with a new baby son I have been reminiscing about my youth by getting back in to Airfix & Dinky. (the James May syndrome).
As per a previour review it has a bit American bias but theres pletty to keep the average brit happy.
I loved it. It fact a bought a futher three copies to give as future birtday/Xmas presents to my middles aged friends.
If you are over 40 & don't get a rush of nostalgia about these toys you must have had some horrible parents or lived in a cave for your childhood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure nostalgia 9 Jun 2014

if you are a child of the 50s, 60s or 70s this book will be of particular appeal to you. It's a well presented journey through the toys of yesteryear - remember the James Bond Car, Matt Mason, Johnny Seven Multipurpose Gun, Starsky and Hutch car, FAB1, Action Man etc? This neat little book will jog your memory and bring the memories flooding back. This is an ideal small gift too. My copy of this book is already well thumbed - I love it. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars what every boy and man loves,,, 29 May 2010
I'm very surprised at the lukewarm reviews about this book. As a collector and toy fan I found this book highly entertaining, informative and fun to read. Full colour imagery and graphics bring it to life and as a hardback it is a real quality piece. I recommend for anyone interested in the history of toys and games and reliving their mispent youth,
