Format:Audio CD
There was more to Gary Paxton than novelties.Girl groups and Pixie Girls were not what the average music fan thought of though-that's if anyone knew of Gary Paxton who entered the business as a doowopper and ended up as a Christian rocker
But this is forever music.Its the Pixie Girl gone folk rock with Mary Saenz's Its too late now a standout.(This is not the same song Tina Robin cut in 1963 when she became the first girl singer to record a song from Liverpool).Following that is one Beverley Williams with a cover of Carole King's Road to Nowhere which put 4 versions in the marketplace.To my mind her greatest song
Obviously none of this stuff troubled any chart much.You don't need to try and figure out why but the nearest answer would be lack of radio play.The Beatles are the perfect example-a leaked copy of She loves you played on a radio station in Chicago and at least a few noticed.
By the time of these recordings the British Invasion was in full swing
Inside a repro of a letter in which Mary Saentz asks the radio station to play her first single.Would YOU have helped her career?
On a MySpace page the son of a Rev-Lon writes about his mother's girl group and suggests that Spector copied them.
Whether he did or not is a moot point but both Gary Paxton and Phil Spector had in common the fact that they were more famous than the people they produced records by
