Two words that would make any reader happy - antebellum steampunk. A promising introduction to Amboy's world since using his ability to save a general's life. Highly recommended.

A nice adventure that takes place during the Civil War in which Stonewall Jackson doesn't die but is given a new mechanical arm by Boy Mercury. He's imprisoned and must service General Jackson's arm while developing new weapons of war.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure about the cover, maybe more is obvious ... 26 July 2014

Not sure about the cover, maybe more is obvious in the next installment. Looks loke steampunk on the cover but kinda leans more towards sci-fi/alternative history. Still well written, just not quite what I was expecting.
2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 22 Aug 2014
By Jane E. Devlin - Published on Amazon.com

Perhaps it's because Boy Mercury is a "steampunk" novel and I'm not familiar with the genera, but I found this episode (all of 46 pages) to be disappointing. The reader is dumped into an alternate time line where the South is winning the Civil War without much in the way of explanation as to the rules of the era. The series is being published in episodes - the next two are 62 & 63 pages respectively at 99¢ each with no indication of how many episodes the completed series will have. I found episode 1 on a day when it was free but I won't be purchasing further episodes.
