5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!!! 16 Sept. 2014

This book was soo inspiring for me, I understand now how complex life is and at the same time just how simple things can be. I must say for many this book will help. Being open to spirituality made it so much more healing as it helped to give me some positive direction in my life when I needed it most. What can I say? I think this should be the first book you should read, if you are thinking more about growing as an individual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Box Set: 4 Books On Zen Buddhism, Meditation & Spirituality: Zen Truth... David Carlyle 26 Oct. 2014
By RobertaM Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Very interesting . This author dispels myths we may have heard about Oriental philosophy, which is actually very similar to the ones we grew up with. Fits nicely with quantum physics and is so simple you won't believe it. Putting labels on our belief systems only separate us from the truth of what we really are. I really like the Zen truth. It is not so much a "religion" as it is a "way of life".
5.0 out of 5 stars "You are already enlightened. You just haven't realized it yet." 21 Feb. 2015

My favorite line is this boxed set is "You are already enlightened. You just haven't realized it yet." I've been intrigued by Buddhism since I first heard of it as a child; my interest only increased during college when I chanced to visit a Buddhist monastery. The first book, Zen Buddhism - No Buddha, places great emphasis on integrity and honesty to self. It discusses taking time to be concerned with the moment and not concerned with anything outside of the immediate. The second book, Zen, Truth, and Spirituality For a Secular Society, included a discussion on the differences between Buddhism and Zen Buddhism. I was previous unaware that Zen Buddhism emphasizes mediation and practical application over the study of doctrine and teachings. The third book, Meditation for Beginners and Spiritual Skeptics, is by far my favorite. I liked reading about mediation from Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and Christian viewpoints. The fifth chapter was my favorite: between explaining that mediation is NOT a quick path to enlightenment or happiness and then pointing out what meditation does do. I won't give that away; you'll just have to read the book! Since I'm a devout Christian, I figured I wouldn't like the fourth book, Atheism and The Spiritual Atheist. I was pleasantly surprised! It echoed my thoughts that belief in God doesn't make a person decent; I've seen to many people who only give lip service to such beliefs and don't live in accordance with them. Carlyle emphasized that following a moral code doesn't need to exist only in combination with religious beliefs.

This box set is a complete guide when it comes to learning Zen Buddhism and practices. This book explained the Zen concept very concise and detailed. There's lots of valuable facts and information that you can found here that will surely help you to be enlightened. We are always on the state of being pessimist wherein we almost forgot how to be mindful and conscious. This book does not only promotes spiritual advancement but also awareness within inner self. This book will open your mind and soul on how to mindfulness and Zen practices works best as a tandem. I would highly recommend this book. Must read!
