Book Description

What are the secrets to the perfect outswinger? How does it feel to bowl the dramatic last over of a World Cup semi-final? And what is the art of ‘cranking’, perfected by Merv Hughes in the early 1990s?

Damien Fleming – the Bowlologist – answers all these questions and more in this hilarious new book, which is part autobiography, part manual and totally entertaining. Packed with anecdotes, cricketing tips and Flem’s irreverent zest for life, Bowlology is a must for cricket fans everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the right balance 21 Aug. 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It fits in the comedy/sports genre which is usually one to avoid due to vacuous and lame blokey jokes. Fleming gets it right however and manages to bring out some laughs while being quite self effacing and insightful about the game. I loved his description of bowling to Lara in the West Indies.

A very easy but worthwhile read.

A good humorous effort from Flem. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last and could've read much longer.

Very funny. An entertaining read. A great insight into a cricketer's life during the 80s and 90s. Looking forward to a sequel.

Interesting book and hilarious storytelling. It's cool to hear a first hand account of what goes on inside the dressing rooms.
4.0 out of 5 stars The first chapter or two are well outside the avenue of authorship. 17 Nov. 2013

I just cannot believe how bad the beginning of this book is. For the first chapter or two, it reads as though it was penned by a primary school aged writer, or someone suffering from dimentia. I put the book away after the first chapter and was not going to pick it back up again ... which would have been an absolute shame. I eventually picked it back up and was stoked that I did.

Because if you can get beyond the initial lack of story telling impact and worth, the book warms up to, what is actually, an entertaining and revealing (and well crafted) series of stories about Damien Flemming's career and life within the Australian Cricket bubble. It has its share of laugh out loud moments.

If you're an Australian cricket fan, you'll definitely enjoy this book.

A sharp delivery, of good line and length. Bowlology is a top order read, from days when cricketers were men, and the English were nervous.
