This is simply a work of art. It is the first modern day ten pin bowling book around. I have and have read several bowling books on the subject and this is the first to explain modern day advancements in the sport. A lot of the other books I have read are good in that you can obtain some use from them, but this one is THE instrucion manual for todays bowler. John explains all the facets of the sport, from set up to swing, from modern day equiptment to being mentally prepared for play.His modern day ideas of style and execution for modern day equiptment are different to many that are shown in older books. What worked previously can be improved upon and he explains how. His explanations are easy to understand and his advice on a free arm swing is second to none. Pictures and diagrams are included to help visualise all he tries to convey. His vast coaching experience is brought to you in this one book.When you see the number of top proffesionals in the modern day game that he has helped with his methods then you will see that this could change your game as it has mine. It simplifies what I thought was a complicated game and makes it clear and basic. I just wish I could have one lesson in person from this man, but as that is never going to happen then this has to be the next best thing. Another good manual is Knowledge is the key, by Fred Borden. Not as up to date as this but it contains some excellent info to help your game.If you are serious about ten pin bowling, or you just want to improve your game to where you are in control then I advise you to get this book. Its a fun read too.

In short, if you are a bowler who wishes to take their game to another level, YOU NEED THIS BOOK.
It is a bowlers bible, every aspect of bowling is brought to the table :- Release, where to stand, how to read lanes, ideas on swing, hand positions and different spin techniques. This book is absolutely packed to the rafters with tips, stories and ideas from the top pros's of today's game. It gives you the tools and confidence to get on the lanes and crush those pins, i have noticed my game improve while reading and implementing aspects from this book and if i can, then you can too.
Technically sound and not afraid to dabble in a few less than textbook ideas John Jowdys Bowling Execution is bowling's Premier book and you really should take the time to read it.

One of the things I learned from reading this book is that everything I thought I knew about how to bowl was wrong. So I'm trying it out by changing everything and while it's an adjustment it starting to work for me.
The tips in the book are good even though about half the book is anecdotes about how the author got so-and-so bowler to improve their game or which bowlers use different techniques. I found those parts uninteresting, people who follow PBA bowling may have a different perspective.
One thing I think this book could incorporate to improve it 100% would be to reduce the numbers of photos of bowlers and replace them with diagrams showing more clearly what the author is talking about. For example when talking about holding the ball with fingers at 11:00, the author doesn't show to what 11:00 is in reference. The pictures then do a rather poor job of showing such subtlety.
Overall I would recommend the book to people looking to improve their game. I am hoping to improve mine and after a few time trying to incorporate the lessons of the book it looks promising. I would have to guess there are better beginner bowling books out there though.
